MOTO TRIPPIN--SD, WY, CO DAY 2

Day 2 - The Badlands

Got started at 6:30, it was a very chilly 49 degrees.  Fresh air!
Jumped back on I29 north to Sioux Falls, then west on I90.
Places to stop for gas were few and far between, I was really low when I found a 2-pump place called Cowboy Town.
Quite thrilling to ride 80mph through this wide open space!  About the same mileage as yesterday, 481 miles, but made much better time. Plus I gained an hour when I got to Mountain Time Zone.
The early sunshine left after a couple of hours, changing to overcast, which made it seem colder.
My hands would get numb, forcing me to stop. Then, by 10:30 it was finally 60 degrees and much more comfortable.
Got to the Badlands by 12:30.  A lot of other people had the same idea, quite a few vehicles.
Dry, barren land can sometimes be very beautiful.  I took all my leather off and rode in shirt sleeves the rest of the day.
Just about 100 miles from Badlands to Deadwood, an easy ride.
As the elevation increased, the cooler temps returned, but I endured without stopping for a jacket.
Didn't stop in Sturgis, there were some dark storm clouds over that area, and thought it wiser to get checked-in and unloaded.
This is the place I'm staying.  The town is small, older, nested in the Black Hills.  They have one of those live cowboy shows on the main street when they dress in old cloths and shoot blanks.
Looking forward to riding the the Black Hills tomorrow.
